Hoshizora Kiseki

Ummmmmmmm..........

The new OVA from CoMix Wave..the studio that brought us Voices of a Distant Star. While the story was cute, I never really got it...as it never explained it....and um....it was just a little......"whaaaaaaaaaaaat?"

So...um...I'd say not worth the download...as it's nothing extraordinary. Nice to look at, tho, the artwork is very well-done. The writing and direction are just very baaad.

Kino Volume 1 and future projects

Well...first I'd like to review the first volume of Kino as a whole (as I've just finished it).

It is such a solid release. I think that the first set of 4 episodes are riveting and creative, and surely pack this disc full of amazing-ness. Also, the main menu is fantastic, playing Shimokawa's "All the Way", a personal anthem of mine. The picture quality is great (even those little scanlines). I just love this DVD....and the white keepcase is a nice touch.

FUTURE PROJECTS:

Marmalade Boy. Yes...all 76 episodes....from the beginning. Granted...the manga was better...I think I might ant to watch the anime again. I'll dig out my scanslations tho, just to double check.

Kodocha. No...not all 102 episodes. I'm going to try and make this an ongoing project, starting with my 4 HQ fansub VHS tapes. I'll burn episodes for storage as they come in, and hopefully HOPFEULLY over the year, I'll get through this series again, seeing it in better quality than those awful Realplayer files from so long ago. The manga is amazing...and hopefully now that I'm older, I can appreciate the masterpiece of an anime even more.

Kino 1-3

I've only watched through Kino once, tho now I own it all.

The first three episodes, although I remember almost every momoent of them, are still fresh and chilling. This is a great, sublte series, that has some fantastic freak-out elements, and also just presents some beautiful ideas. I'm looking forward to my summer run with Kino, making that series of DVD purchases definitely worth it.

Onward!!

and oh...Kino is HIGHLY recommended!

Love Hina 1-5

Wow.....what a blast from the past...I recently got back into Love Hina, and seeing it on shiney video is just...wow. My only experience with the frist chunk of episodes are old, cappy VHS tapes, and then some AWFUL WinMX downloads. So seeing it in all of it's glory....it looks and feels like a brand new show. The artwork is soft and clean...when it first came out, it must have looked VERY ahead of it's time.

Tech stuff aside, Love Hina never fails to charm, and although it's not as fun and wacky as more recent stuf (or Kodocha), it still is good, romantic fun, with some really excellent direction going on. I never really appreciated the production of this show in my original watchthru, but now am soaking it up for all of it's glory.

Long live anime classics!!!
